It’s Wonderful to be Weird! By a Special Guest Blogger!

I am so honoured to share this blog post with you from a dear friend Michelle Casto (aka Bright Michelle). Michelle and I met via the virtual world of Social Media, I’m not even sure how – it doesn’t truly matter really, we met, we connected and I think she’s absolutely amazing with an energy that totally rocks – I love it! Michelle asked me to review and help edit her book for her while she was still in the draft stages and I have to share something with you on this (I’ll be brief…).

After I wrote The Question Journey I received a strong message from my guides not to read any more ‘spiritual or personal development’ books. The message I kept getting was that I needed to identify, learn and follow my own truth and by continuing to read what others were writing was affecting my ability to do so. That being said, I was also at a crossroads in trying to understand my own Destiny (where the heck was my life going…or more precisely, where did I want to take it?) so I decided to go for it. Ultimately I was the perfect test case, and boy, what a process. Michelle’s ability to take you through the process of discovering your Destiny was simple, straightforward and yet ridiculously powerful. I couldn’t believe the breakthroughs I had as a result of going through her book and the related processes (my ‘What is Your Why?’ blog posting came from reading Michelle’s book! If you feel you’re on the edge of something, but aren’t sure what, I HIGHLY recommend this book for you.

Now…on to this crazy, fun and weird blog from Michelle! Enjoy

In a world where we have all been taught to fit in and dim our light, something wonderful this way comes…..a shift in consciousness, a new way of being that embraces weirdness and deciding one’s fate.

The word fate comes from the latin word–fatum–a noun meaning fate, destiny, and weird.

Weird?  That’s weird, right?

Well, it gets even more weird. You see, I have an interesting relationship with the word weird. When I was in 6th grade, I mis-spelled that word in a spelling bee. Now please understand that I was a very good speller, so a short word like that should not have thrown me, but more importantly, I often felt different growing up. Friends would often say how “weird” I was and that made me feel, well, weird, especially at 13.

In 2009, I learned that the original meaning for weird is from an old English noun meaning fate or destiny. To be weird was someone who knew their path of destiny.

What a relief! I could finally let my hair down, and be the real me.

Now, I fly my weird flag around and invite others like you to join me.

In fact, why are you trying to fit in when you were born to stand out?!

Destiny leaves us clues. As a little girl, I knew I was different and that I was destined for something great in life, I just kept following the bread crumbs until I finally felt I could articulate the process with you, in the form of my new book, The Destiny Discovery:  Find Your Soul’s Path. There are countless clues everywhere for you when you’re paying attention.

One of my personal clues from the Universe comes from my very first astrological natal chart (circa 1992) “The planet Neptune in the third house means you are full of creative ideas and may excel in artistic and spiritual pursuits…..your insight into human nature is outstanding.”

Along my journey, I have consulted numerous psychics, coaches, and healers who have provided valuable insight into my psyche. I feel that I am spoken to on a daily basis by the Universe and now expect it to come in many different forms…weird, right?

Just today, I had a visit from a Blue Heron during a meditation, and the message was to “stand my ground and embrace my uniqueness.”  This message came at the same time I was taking a bigger stand for my own Destiny and sharing my vision for a world of people living their destiny.

It was also weird how Trish and I worked together on the book. I had an intuition that the book needed the perfect editor, and so I reached out to Trish, to see if she had interest. She was actually in a process of redefining her direction, and so agreed to edit the manuscript.

Ever hear of the word serendipity? It means to have a “happy accident” when things come together as if my magic. That’s how life flows when you are walking the path of your true purpose, awake and aware, and yes, a little weird.

For me, it’s wonderful to be weird. It’s wonderful to trust my inner guidance. It’s wonderful to be living my destiny.

So, what clue have you recently been given that may lead to a bright new future for you in 2012?

How are you a fellow weird-o?

Leave a comment, I would love to know!

Our Desire to Connect

I am becoming more and more excited by the number of people who are simply not interested in general, mundane conversation. It is now almost a daily occurrence that I hear someone say, “I don’t care about the weather or what’s going on at your work, I want to know about YOU, I want deeper, more meaningful conversation.”

This past weekend I was invited to just such a conversation by Dale in Victoria. There were three of us who met at the local library and the conversation was stimulating, interesting and allowed each of us to push the boundaries of what we were interested in, accepting, acknowledging and honouring what we weren’t interested in, and finding new and creative ways to get our ideas, thoughts and feelings across to each other in a way that was respectful, yet honoured who we are in how we choose to communicate.

There is such an energy that is created around interactions like this. We become aware – of who we are, of what we believe, of what we will or will not allow into our space at this moment in time – in this iteration of who we are.

But beyond the experience itself I am seeing a simple, fundamental desire – a desire to connect. But the type of connection that many people are looking for is far beyond a shake of your hand, an exchange of a business card and a quick synopsis of “what you do”. This is a desire to connect at the soul level – where you are speaking to another (or with a group) from your authentic self, without positioning, posturing or putting on a mask. I believe these conversations exist on an entirely different level – it is a different form of communication entirely – where you feel respected and honoured for who you really are – without the requirement for everyone to agree. There is a subtle “listening” that occurs that is taking place beyond the words – where the words become almost irrelevant, and the sensation or feeling that you get is what draws you and keeps you engaged.

The Journey Circles I host are like this – they are explorations into truths – my truth – which is simply “A” truth – resonates with someone else at some level – or their truth resonates with me – there is a connection that is borne of the recognition of what it is to be human, with all of our messy imperfections, desires, fears, etc. A place where we can feel safe in exploring these inner truths – and feel supported by the mere fact that others recognize those feelings or, in many cases, feel the same way. A connection of the heart and soul.

Where are you in your desire to connect? Do you feel like your tired of hearing about the latest sale at the mall, or your neighbours renovations? Are you looking for more meaningful conversation or connection? What are you doing about it?

The first step, in my experience, towards finding this deeper level of connection is being willing to open yourself up to others. To tell them what you’re looking for and to allow yourself to be vulnerable as you allow yourself to be “seen” by others. Again, from my experience, this is a level of connection that creates a sense of community that is tangible, where you move away from handshakes and into hugs (yes, hugs), because the connection you have with that person (or persons) demands to be honoured in the physical as well as the mental, emotional and spiritual.

I See You!

Enjoying the Journey! ~Trish
